Task Area 6 functions as the primary application component of the NFDI4Energy consortium. Its main objective is to apply the services and concepts developed in other task areas to specific research examples, demonstrating their usability and helping to define further requirements.
Task Area 6 thus demonstrates the practical use of developed services, provides feedback from real-world applications to guide the development in Task Areas 1 through 5, and provides showcases to generate visibility for the consortium’s services within the scientific community. This work is structured around, but not limited to, three core use cases that represent common types of energy system research projects. These include “Energy Lab & Simulation Coupling”, which lines real laboratories with simulations to test services from Task Area 4 and Task Area 5; “Long term energy system scenarios, society and energy politics”, which aims to make scenarios comparable and accessible to the public and decision-makers; and “Distributed simulation for distributed energy systems”, which addresses self-organizing systems using autonomous agents in distributed simulations.
Objectives
- Deliver additional requirements for Task Area 1 to Task Area 5
- Apply best practices to address social challenges in future energy system concepts from Task Area 2
- Show how the processes of industry involvement from Task Area 3 can be applied to research examples
- Use standardised scenario description from Task Area 4 to make energy system scenario results accessible, understandable, and comparable to the public and to support decision makers
- Test the developed methods to coupled distributed simulators and real laboraties from Task Area 5
- Deliver best practices examples and guidelines for Task Area 1
