Public sector involvement
Public sector involvement
The energy transition depends on informed decisions at all levels of government. NFDI4Energy supports public sector actors, such as municipalities, regional energy and planning agencies, federal ministries, statistical offices, and publicly owned utilities, in making energy research more transparent, accessible, and relevant to real-world policy and planning.
We work to strengthen the connection between public institutions and research by offering tools, data platforms, and guidance that help you better access, use, and share energy-related data.
Public sector actors benefit from:
- Curated and interoperable data platforms that make existing research data easier to find and apply (e.g., the Leibniz Data Manager)
- Guidelines and standards for publishing local or regional data in privacy-compliant, reusable formats
- Support for communicating data and model results, including visualisation guides and interactive tools (under development)
- Opportunities to contribute local knowledge and reference datasets through a planned crowd-sourcing platform
Our aim is to support an energy research ecosystem that reflects not only technical and economic considerations, but also societal needs and local realities.
